The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Human Safety - Engineering solutions for human-centered applications” is hosted by the University of Bergamo and developed in collaboration with leading European partner universities. The programme offers students an intensive international learning experience combining online activities and an on-site week in Bergamo.

This is more than a short course: it is a hands-on interdisciplinary environment where students work together on innovative technological solutions to improve safety, health, and quality of life in human-centered applications.

The main goal of the programme is to provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to address complex Human Safety scenarios through engineering technologies and human-centered digital solutions.

During the BIP, participants will develop innovative applications based on:

  • eXtended Reality (XR)
  • Digital Human Modeling
  • Human motion analysis
  • Digital monitoring systems for health and safety

Students will learn how to design systems able to improve safety and well-being in healthcare, industrial, and domestic environments. Example applications include vital parameter monitoring, human movement analysis, and risk detection solutions, such as fall prevention and fall monitoring for older adults or patients undergoing rehabilitation.

The programme also includes interdisciplinary laboratory and project-based activities designed to foster collaboration among students from different academic backgrounds. Through an experimental and practice-oriented approach, participants will integrate competencies in biomedical engineering, computer science, ergonomics, and human movement analysis, contributing to the development of technological solutions for health, safety, and longevity.
