In summer 2026, the University of Tartu will welcome international students and lifelong learners to the UniTartu Summer School in its fifth anniversary year. From 27 July to 7 August 2026, the summer school offers participants the chance to gain new knowledge, meet people from around the world and discover Estonian culture.

Target group: Masters students of Ingegneria Informatica

Currently, two courses are available:

This course offers a practical introduction to modern data engineering by guiding you through the end-to-end development of a realistic data platform. Participants will build a complete system in Docker, starting with batch ETL pipelines using PostgreSQL, dbt, and Airflow, and extending it with real-time streaming using Kafka and Apache Flink.

The intersection of humans and robots has become increasingly critical as society integrates robotics into everyday life. This course offers an in-depth exploration of social robotics, a branch of robotics that involves the design, development, and study of robots that interact and communicate with humans or other robots in a socially meaningful manner. Participants will investigate concepts such as robot design for social interaction, ethical considerations, and real-world applications using various robot platforms as hands-on case studies.

Currently, two courses are available to the Masters students of DIGIP:

Description: In this course, we will apply central statistical, AI and XAI models to data analysis (XAI = explainable AI) in a computer environment. We will compare conventional statistical models to the corresponding AI and XAI models by analysing various example data sets. In particular, neural networks, fuzzy systems and evolutionary computing models are studied.  The natural language processing with the large language models is also studied briefly.

Description: This two-week intensive course provides a comprehensive introduction to modern molecular genetics and genomic approaches that underpin contemporary life sciences research. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and apply genomic technologies in biological and biomedical contexts.
